| APRIL 17, 2024 update In Part… Last night April 16, 2024 From last night in part. Symptoms are headache with some back of head pains R side that would usually tie into Philippines, Iceland, Alaska and some L side which is Indonesia, Japan. Turkey? There has been intense stomach pains and both stomach and intestinal flu symptoms in the last 4 hours. <end> At 7:14 AM PDT today there was a quake that hit the area of SHIKOKU in the area of the Bungosuido Straits. Originally our reports came in from EMSC as 6.3 and USGS also gave it a 6.3 but I always defer to the Pacific NW Tsunami Warning Center for magnitude confirmation. Since there was no danger of tsunami from this quake they did not list it. So I went to the source The Japanese Meteorological Society. I had called them back in the 80’s and gave them predictions which were accurate but I had 3 strikes against me at that time. 1, I was not Japanese, 2 I was female and 3 I was not a geologist. But I think I called them on at least 3 occasions. So going to their website and then checking Japan Times Media. This is what they said. They said the quake was a 6.6 and did not have a tsunami connected to it. There was some damage but the nuclear plant was ok. So that was Part of what I was picking up last night. The back pains, headache and earaches all go with larger quakes in Japan. Usually the ones I have had connection to were Eastern and Western Honshu. But I had not ever experienced the stomach and intestinal flu symptoms with Japan. That being said, I did a search a bit ago and asked about the rock in Japan. This is what is said about most common rock in Japan. *Granite, one of the rocks made of magma cooled and solidified in a great depth (plutonic rock), is one of the most popular rocks in Japan, with its distribution covering about 11.6% of the ground surface of Japan.* If the geology of the quake location in Japan today is granite, that would be the connection to my symptoms last night. In the past the only area that triggered those symptoms was Big Bear, Yucca Valley, Joshua Tree, Borrego Springs, Temecula CA… Sierras and some of the Cascades as well as the states that are part of the Wasatch and New Madrid Fault, especially Idaho, Utah, New Mexico, and TX, OK, MO, TN, and IL not sure about the other locations but for sure New Jersey which checking showed me that the quake near Lebanon was where they have the most granite in the state that was the day of the Eclipse. All of these have granite deposits in them. I don’t know the rest of the areas I have never looked them up. There was a small quake in VT and what I read it has the most granite of any place in the US. The Gulf of CA has been busy with over 38 quakes since yesterday. one was 5.0 2 were 4.9 and many more in the 4.0+ range. This is part of the Imperial Valley quake group. Shikoku, island, the smallest of the four main islands of Japan. It is separated from Honshu by the Inland Sea (north) and the Kii Strait (east) and from Kyushu by the Bungo Strait (west). The island is divided into the prefectures of Ehime, Kagawa, Kōchi, and Tokushima.Mar 10, 2024 So I am going to err on the side of caution and continue this watch till 6 AM tomorrow. At 6 AM tomorrow my official timelines ends that I believe unless we are in a ongoing timeline no quakes will happen over 6.9 |
| 12-24 hour overview of symptoms. Mostly since last night I have had more stomach pains, mild nausea of stomach flu and intestinal flu type symptoms. No fever so I know its not me. BP was good, Heart rate good as well. Headache was pretty bad last night. Mostly frontal over brow bones which is volcanic but some of it was on the L eye socket which is Chile, Bolivia and Argentina as well as Costa Rica. Then we get the back of head pains, most often its L side back of head, which ties into all the volcanic activity in the Cascades and Sierras, most of Indonesia and Mexico and Italy,Iceland, Alaska etc.. classic Stratovolcanoes. Last night I had the back of head pains but it was R side. Very unusual. So tying it to the R side headache and earache I suspected it was Philippines, and Iceland and Alaska * can’t remember if these locations were L or R side back of head Pre Harmonic Pain symptoms. Then the next symptom was Heart. It was first just a short jab on the L side, then later it was several jabs and finally it was also actually painful pressure * like a heart attack * this is S CA , Mexico and Japan over 6.5, but for me I know it was not me.. * so then about 11 PM I began to experience some R side chest pains. R side in the past has always been Puebla MX. But I am sure there are other locations. In examining this symptom, I find myself wondering if it was not the location as it was a tectonic event. So watching this . The Leg pains were really bad yesterday a bit better today. That the Peru/Brazil/Columbia for the R leg and add Guatemala and Nicaragua. and the L side is either Guatemala or Ecuador. Both legs were screaming in pain I could barely walk. But when I woke this morning they were much better than they were last night. I still have some L side pain so I am not sure its done. Balance has been off. Dizzy is the word of the day. Spacey usually they relate to Chile but I am sure they an be connected to other locations. Last night literally pushing myself off the walls walking down the hallway. Not a good thing have to walk very carefully so as not to fall it can also be part of the local to Oregon, Washington quakes and Mexico. Finally the back pain and stomach pain. The back pain has been pretty much full upper back pains of Indonesia. Then we have some R shoulder blade pains that hit about 9 AM today. That is Kuril Islands. and the L side which was really sore is Japan and that is why it was added to my list of possible quakes last night. Then we have the Mid Upper back that one is Turkey.. this one I am still concerned about. Just since midnight today they have had over 75 quakes. The major quake was in February last year so it was a full year ago and so checking the quakes Turkey has had an astounding 8287 quakes since January 1st 2024 that more than 3 times of the quakes they had or 4 months following the quake at Fukushima 2011 So this says Turkey is in the Bulls Eye. Then we have the mid lower back really simple for this one. Tonga and Fiji.. and this activity continues. Last but not least is the very low back pains into the sacrum. These get into the back so severely its hard to stand up straight and walk. It feels like you must have lifted over 200 pounds and now your paying for it. This is that symptom I watch for the Wasatch and New Madrid quake activity, if you have ever experienced a kidney infection that’s similar to the pains. Vision is not too bad today. I could actually see better on the computer without the reading glasses. So that’s good as it goes with quakes off the Oregon coast and sometimes Simi Valley, Big Bear and Japan over 6.5 * the 6.6 in Japan covered this one too.* |
| FROM JAPAN TIMES.. April 17, 2024 A magnitude 6.6 earthquake, measuring a weak 6 on Japan’s seismic intensity scale, struck off the west coast of Shikoku island on Wednesday night. There was no threat of a tsunami from the quake, which struck at 11:14 p.m., and initial reports suggested only minor injuries and damage. The quake measured a weak 6 — the third highest level — in the Ehime Prefecture town of Ainan and the Kochi Prefecture city of Sukumo Striking at a depth of 39 kilometers, its epicenter was in the Bungo Channel, a straight separating the islands of Kyushu and Shikoku. Chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshimasa Hayashi, speaking a news conference shortly after 1 a.m. Thursday, said several light injuries had been reported. NHK reported minor damage in some areas, including broken water pipes, fallen streetlights, and a landslide on a national roadway. Among the injured, a woman in Ainan in her 70s was taken to a hospital after collapsing, according to a local fire department. In Sukumo, plans are underway to open 10 evacuation centers. No abnormalities have been detected at Shikoku Electric Power’s Ikata Nuclear Plant in Ehime Prefecture, NHK reported. The Meteorological Agency initially reported the quake as magnitude 6.4, but later revised the figure to 6.6. |
| Symptoms and Locations Past and Future Bolded locations are where I am watching for quake activity Headache mostly frontal … and a bit of back of head. Frontal is mostly S CA . This can include the Imperial Valley, Landers Quake Zone and Oceanside to LA and Oxnard and into Palm Springs, etc. This is volcano, Chile, parts of Southern CA, and Mexico and just the classic headache was Japan. The back pains. Full upper back Indonesia and it continues there was a volcano go off there yesterday which could be in part the cause of the back of head pains and full upper back pains. Low back is the Wasatch/New Madrid and TX continues to shake. There as a small event in AR today. Still picking up more for that area like TX, OK, MO, TN, NJ, and ID UT NM. This is only partial list. Mid upper back is Turkey and this one is a definite YES more coming and I would not be surprised to see something in the 4.5-5.0 + range. L side back shoulder blade only Japan. More coming not only a/s but different location like Honshu. R shoulder blade is Kuril Islands and this one is also more likely. Stomach pains… Green Apple Belly Ache all over pain.. Sierras and Cascades mostly Mammoth, Bishop, Coalinga and Mt Hood. India and Nepal sharp stomach pains with heart pains. earaches.. mostly L sided with India and China etc R side is Taiwan and Puerto Rico and others.. Taiwan due for more quakes perhaps up to a 5.5+ Vision as I said earlier is ok today. Still not great but I don’ t need reading glasses to read by cell phone or use the laptop. The areas that are bolded is where I am watching for more quake activity. 4/17/2024 4:15 PM PDT Largest quake in 24 hrs 6.6 Japan. 5.1 and 2/ 4.9’s in Gulf of CA. 5.0 Taiwan 5.0 Bellaney Islands Most quakes were in Turkey over 76 since midnight. More quake activity in Chile, Indonesia, Argentina, Puerto Rico, Greece, France* Costa Rica, Crete, Azores, Mexico, Central AM, Philippines, Spain, Canary Islands, * Offshore N CA 3.0 * 3 quakes on Mt Hood Oregon in the last 2 hours. * Mt Hood causes stomach pains.* Watch for more in the Sierras/Ridgecrest by the 19th US Quakes. Texas, Gulf of CA, AR, Hawaii, Los Angeles area, Offshore N CA, Borrego Springs Imperial Valley. As I am ending this I am getting L side earache. More for China, Pakistan, Afghanistan, India/If you are watching India watch more for more in the Andaman or Nicobar Islands. The Geysers activity us up to 379 quakes. Quake of 4.0 or greater due inland or offshore N CA between now and Friday 12-72 hrs. or less. It can also hit the inland to the Sierras and into the Central Valley. 4:52 PM PDT |
| EARTHQUAKE MEMORIES SPRING BREAK QUAKE MARCH 25 1993 For most of the year I had been concerned about a large quake hitting Oregon . I really don’t know why but I was concerned, I even drafted a bill and took it to the Capitol and asked for a hearing. I finally was allowed to talk to the Legislatures it was during lunch and one of the men was eating a sandwich it was obvious he thought it was a joke. He laughingly was stuffing half a sandwich into this mouth as he said “ Well if we get a quake like this our 2nd floor becomes our first floor ha ha ha.. he doesn’t know how close that came to being a self fulfilling prophecy as parts of the State Capitol sustained major damage. Not getting anywhere with the legislatures I was on some radio shows sharing my concerns. Then I decided I would stop and talk with my then Allstate agent. I told him that if he had friends living in West Salem or Oregon in general tell them to sign up for Earthquake Insurance as soon as possible. This was about 2 months before the quake. I couldn’t get it because I was renting but I did have renters insurance. So I assume that he did that as I heard later they cancelled Earthquake Insurance. I am not sure if its available now or not. So I continued to share my concerns. We got through the New Year and then it was getting to be close to spring. Thankfully we were on Spring Break it likely saved people’s lives, bus es, students at schools etc. The morning of March 20 was about like any other day I had to go to work, I worked for Human Services for the State of Oregon from 7:30-4:30 and it was time to go. I noticed the low back pains as soon as I woke up. By the time I had fixed mine and my husband’s breakfast my lower back was screaming. Mostly the R side but actually it was both sides that hurt above the waist. I was happy to get to work and sit in my comfortable office chair. I was working on some building reports between waiting on customers and all the sudden I was experiencing deep pain in both ears, again it was worse on the R side. My headache which basically I have all the time, began to pick up and it continued to increase till Wednesday about 2:30 PM and then the pain was continuous. My vision started getting really bad on the 22nd. was really getting bad, tried to read some paperwork and it was almost impossible the reason was blurred vision. I knew vision was part of the Oregon quakes but I did not remember it being this bad. I had a call from my sister who was in law enforcement and she also was asking about vision and back pains. We both thought that our vision and issues with feeling dizzy was like needing new glasses or at least getting your prescription checked. I recall on my break I made some popcorn in the break room we had an air popper. My headache was across the forehead and just over the eyes classic volcanic symptoms. The upper back of the head was also painful to touch. Summary: Saturday March 20 Earaches started but increased daily worst day was the 24th. Sunday March 21 Low back pain Monday March 22 Vision issues Tuesday March 23 balance and spacey feeling. Wednesday 24 All the pains from headache to mid back pain to ears was much worse on Wednesday Made Popcorn at work. Was having problems walking. Was concerned about driving home, I actually had someone get my car out of the parking garage my depth perception was really bad and I didn’t want to hit a car backing out of the space. I had not taken a lunch not able to eat, so was able to leave for home at 4 PM. Told my manager Dennis if I did not feel better in the morning I was not coming in. I went home but stopped by my mom’s house to check on her my dad had died under a year ago and I was concerned about her and I checked while I was there to make sure that the water heater was strapped down and anything that could fall was moved she may have had one of her grandchildren staying for Spring Break I don’t remember.. When I got home I noticed one of my original cats was not around and walked into the living room and there he was hanging by his front toenails off the traverse rod and drape. He had done this before with some quakes. So I lifted him down and he ran off I assume to find his siblings. Then I placed a call to Chris Dodge in Washington DC to let him know a larger quake was due and might hit my own area. Since he was in Washington DC he was 3 hours ahead of me so I had to leave a message on his office phone. Something that I was watching and had confirmed by phone, was there were 4 small aircraft crashes in Southern CA all within 4 days of the quake. The day before the quake Wednesday March 24, Portland Radio on their going home commute mentioned at least 6 disabled vehicles.. Earthquake clouds were in evidence the day before the quake they were mostly to the North and East of here. So when I arrived home the cats were roof sitting. I had 3 on the roof. Then I also noticed that at least one of the cats was opening and slamming doors. I had to run to the store about 2 blocks away, and the power lines were filled with pigeons. I counted 75 in all. I always check the number of pigeons as they pick up the activity much earlier than most birds or animals went home and had dinner and watched a bit of TV, checked and ants were gone. Back was so sore and vision was really bad. My husband had gone to bed. I decided to sleep on the sofa. The cats were hiding all 8 of them. I went looking for them before I lay down and our bed was a Captains Bed and had a door that opened at the foot of the bed for under bed storage. Since I could not find the cats, I decided to check under the bed. I got a flashlight and opened the door and there they were, all 8 of them almost piled on top of one another. Bear in mind two or more of these cats were mortal enemies, but they were laying together now there was no doubt in my mind that a quake was coming, they had gone together and opened the door at the foot of the bed and then made their way down as far as they could get towards the wall. So I made some preparations in case anything happened. I filled some bottles with water and made sure we had our medical supplies and medications my husband was on in a bag by the door. Made it through the night was not sure if I would go to work or not. Cats were up, so that was good. My husband was still sleeping it was 5:15 AM so I decided to make some tea, fed the cats and was just going to sit down and then I thought I would open the patio doors if anything happened both the cats and we would have an escape. I had just gotten my tea and just sat down when the quake hit. It was not a mild tremor and then shake it was an instant bam. It sounded like a cannon went off next to me then the house began to shake. It was shaking from E to W so even though the cupboards in the kitchen and the refrigerator doors were open they were on the N and S walls so nothing fell on the floor. All the furniture moved and I was sitting on the sofa and decided to ride it out I timed it, it was 45 seconds. It was so loud, every time it went from East to West it cracked loudly. My husband was calling out to me from the bedroom as we had a water bed and he couldn’t get out. There was a unattached 300 pound headboard over the bed. He was afraid it would tip and fall on the bed. The quake ended cats had disappeared.. My husband got up. We still had power so turned on TV. So the quake hit and was done, expected a/s but did not get any. Went outside and the nails in the siding on the W side of the hours e were popped same with the gutter and the patio had literally dropped 3 inches. called my mom and she hardly felt it in her area. I think its because we were 4 blocks from the river and near a fault 2 blocks away, and much of the land was reclaimed river land. The water heater was ok and nothing appeared broke. There were cracks in the patio, the driveway and the garage that had not been there as well as the living room. I had to go to work it was not a choice. So I called in I would be late but I would be there. I made sure that my husband had all he needed and I made a sandwich for him, set out his meds and left. Believe me I was not happy about crossing the bridge into town. The places where there were expansion joints there was debris sticking up about 3-5 inches. I literally held my breath but I think they had checked the bridge before they allowed people on it after the quake. Some people who worked early were at the office when the quake hit and they found the best place to be was on the first floor stair well all concrete the building was only a few years old so it was in pretty good shape. So that’s my memory of the Spring Break Quake of March 25, 1993. It was only 45 seconds and I would never want to be in anything any stronger than That one. Thinking about the potential Big One they said a quake of that magnitude Could shake for more than 7 minutes, I am not sure my heart would survive that. I continue to pray it never comes to it, in my life time. 10PM |
