Good Morning from CT.
Things have been fairly quiet here although I am experiencing a higher frequency sound all the time. It has been fairly warm so it was to my surprise and shock when I saw a spider on the sofa with me yesterday evening. Normally I don’t expect spiders to come in until I hear the cold weather is coming. And why of all places on the sofa??? Gross!

I agree GROSS… and EEK ….
I totally agree the spiders don’t usually come in till later in the fall… but I watch for them and my cats are excellent at spying spiders. They will sit and stare at one place on the ceiling and meow… and I go and look and there is a spider… I get bit and I get sick. Even the house spider really affects me so I have to be very careful. If you can get Hedge Apples from OK or KS they really do deter the spiders.
Since I have been placing them in the woodpile with my firewood I have not had any spiders in my firewood. I also keep them under the sofa and on top of the book case and all along the door coming into the house from the patio that’s where they used to come in…I also toss them in my closets… if you set them on good furniture you might want to place them on a plate etc.. they tend to break down over time, some get mushy and some just get harder like a rock. But they still work in all forms.
But interestingly it does not deter the ones who come in before quakes. We did have a couple of very small quakes in Oregon yesterday and the cats I think found the spider but I never saw it.. If your interested, in getting Hedge Apples go on Amazon or go to Thunder Acres where I get mine. They are $39 a dozen but well worth it.. Thanks… for sharing your spider story. I believe that I attract them.
I can be sitting on the sofa or at the table and one will be crossing the ceiling and just drop down on me, literally… Uck… enough..
